The main aim of this diet is to rest the digestive tract, remove the impurities from it, move and get rid of toxins which have been preserved in different areas of your body and burn more extra fat.

History
This diet was at first proposed by Stanley Burroughs in The Master Cleanser, first published in 1976. Recently it has been brought back with the publication of Peter Glickman's book Lose Weight, Have More Energy, and Be Happier in 10 Days, first published in 2004, and revised and expanded for a second edition in 2005.

People supporting Raw food nutrition, often choose the Lemonade diet in order to start or augment their raw lifestyle.

Side effects of the Lemonade diet
The first few days of this diet program will be the hardest. Like in case of any type of fast diet it is very difficult to get rid of your normal amount of food. It will be also very challenging to dispense the solid food.

Also due to the fact that this diet is a cleansing fast, it may lead to various “detox” symptoms such headaches, nausea and vomiting, cravings, fatigue and irritability. But almost all these symptoms are transient. In rare cases these side effects can be very severe so that the dieter has to give up the diet beforehand.

Lemonade diet and medical conditions
This diet changes your eating habits dramatically, that’s why before you start dieting it will be useful to consult your physician. Also people who have been taking pills for a long period of time should also discuss it with the specialist. You will be examined by the doctor in order to make sure that the change in dietary habits does not influence on the effects of the medication.
